Tips

  • Scheduling your appointment for service:
When scheduling the appointment for your appliance repair, have ready your make, model and serial number from the nameplate of the appliance. In this way the technician can bring the parts needed for the repair when coming into your house and guarantee a same day repair.

  • Keep your washing machine running efficiently:
Limescale builds up on the heating element which causes the machine to run less efficiently – taking longer for water to warm up. Using Calgon in the wash, will help prevent limescale build-up and help to keep your machine in tip top condition.

  • Keep your dishwasher running efficiently:
Load dishes according to the dishwasher manufacturer's instructions to allow for proper water circulation. Check and clean drains and filters regularly to ensure efficient operation.

Clean your Dishwasher safely and in a biodegradable manner doing the following:

Place a dishwasher-safe cup filled with plain white vinegar on the top rack of the dishwasher. Using the hottest water available, run the dishwasher thriugh a cycle. The vinegar will help to wash away loose, greasy grime, sanitizes, and helps remove the musty odor. Next, sprinkle a cupful of baking soda around the bottom of the tub and run it through a short cycle. The baking soda will help re-freshen and removing stains

  • Keep your dryer running efficiently:
Do not overload the dryer-check your operations manual for the optimum load size to dry at one time. Most clothes should dry within one dryer cycle. If your clothes are taking more than a cycle to dry, you probably have a vent problem. To verify that the vent is the problem, disconnect the transition vent at back of your dryer and dry a load of clothes. You can put a sock over the opening to keep from blowing lint into your laundry room. If they dry faster, you have a vent problem. Note this is just a test and building codes say your dryer should vent to the outside. It is not recommended that you use your dryer without it being connected to the outside except for the test cycle. A professional can help you with cleaning your vent.

  • Keep your oven running efficiently:
Some people line their racks with foil to increase cooking efficiency with the aid of reflection. However, the foil stops air from flowing freely in the oven, which actually makes your oven less efficient.

If you are cooking in the oven don't keep opening and closing the door to check the food unless you have to. Most ovens have windows. Keep the windows clean and make use of them by looking through the open windows to see all the food is cooking instead of opening and closing the oven door constantly while the food is cooking. Your oven has to work harder to replace the heat lost by opening the door, which is approximate 25 degrees every time you open the door.

  • Keep your stove running efficiently:
Keep your stove top burners and oven elements maintained. Keep them clean. That includes the stove tops with smooth surfaces. Keep the burner pans clean. Replace defective or poorly functioning elements. They have to work harder if they are covered in old food and baked on gunk.

Attempting to repair a broken appliance without proper training and safety standards is dangerous. Appliances should only be repaired by skilled professionals who have the knowledge and experience. Unqualified individuals attempting to repair the appliance themselves, risk serious injury or even death.

All of the above tips are for informational purposes only. For your safety, we strongly encourage any appliances repairs to be performed by a certified, licensed and insured technician.
